Lamella Clarifier
Lamella Clarifier is one of the most compact clarifiers used to remove Total Suspended Solids (TSS) in Industries as well as Municipal water bodies. Lamella Plate Clarifier is a primary clarification device used to treat sewage and industrial waste streams and requires up to 90% less space compared to a conventional settling tank.
Working Principle
- Achieves solid-liquid separation by directing the liquid between a series of inclined plates called Lamella
- Settles suspended solids by gravity
- Settling surface area of each plate is equivalent to its horizontal projection
- As Lamella are normally spaced approximately 50 mm apart, large settling surfaces are concentrated within a relatively small floor area
- Design ensures laminar, stable flow and excellent effluent quality
Design Features
- The Lamella clarifier is a pressure-less system
- The untreated water is pumped or flows by gravity into the inlet channel of the Lamella clarifier where it flows downwards
- Below the Lamella the flow is reversed and streams up
- The Solids settle down solids settle down in the hopper on the Lamella
- The clarified water flows downwards and via a special overflow weir to the outlet
- The solids slide down along the Lamella and accumulate in the hopper
- Sludge can be removed periodically
- Inclined plate clarifier which is easy to maintain
- Dual flow entry
- Gravity sludge removal
- No moving parts
- Compact, modular, maintenance free
- Custom designed units to treat higher suspended solids and flow rates
- Standard models to treat 150 to 250 ppm suspended solids and upto 650 m3/h flow rate
Features
- Plate configuration can be varied
- Ease of installation
- Bottom hopper configuration can be varied
- Remove sediment from wastewater reliably and effectively
- Using up to 90% less footprint than conventional technologies
- Single packaged unit with minimum civil work
Maintenance
- Minimal operator involvement
- On-line plate cleaning possible
- No moving parts, hence minimum maintenance
Advantage Over Clariflocculators
- Less floor space
- Easy capacity expansion
- No moving parts; energy saving and easy operation
- Flexibility – plate configuration can be varied to suit applications, changes in influent characteristics
- No downtime – plates can be cleaned while unit is in operation
- Negligible civil work – less time for construction
- Moveable to other location as well as Modular expansion possible
